Linking Land Use and Water Quality

About > NEMO Network

Delaware NEMO is a coalition of university, state agency, local government and non profit organizations with the common goal to assist communities facing growth on ways to protect natural resources while they grow or change.

Delaware NEMO partners include Delaware Department of Natural Resources and Environmental Control (DNREC), Delaware Department of Transportation (DelDOT) and Delaware Office of Planning Coordination; municipal and county governments; non profit organizations, including Center for Inland B ays and the Appoquiniminck River Association; and the University of Delaware - Delaware Cooperative Extension, Delaware Water Resource Center, Institute for Public Administration/Water Resources Agency and the Delaware Sea Grant Program.

Delaware NEMO is a member of the National NEMO network, a confederation of programs in more than 30 states. See http://nemonet.uconn.edu/.  Assistance is provided through non-regulatory, research-based, educational outreach programs that emphasize natural resource based planning and better site design. Network members believe that outreach education is an appropriate, flexible, effective and cost-effective method for catalyzing change to local land use policies and practices.
